Rijksmuseum Tickets & Tours

• Book in advance: Tickets are no longer available at the museum itself, so it is best to book your tickets in advance. 
• Avoid crowds: The museum is most crowded between 11 AM to 3 PM. Ideally, visit the Rijksmuseum in the early morning or late afternoon and avoid weekends. 
• Consider guided tours: There is a rich art history at the Rijksmuseum. A guided tour can help provide interesting information and facts that you might otherwise miss. Most tours also provide skip-the-line tickets that can also save you time.   
• Access roads: The access roads to the Rijksmuseum are only open to cyclists and pedestrians. If you’re arriving by car, you can park in the nearby streets, like Johannes Vermeerstraat, Honthorststraat, Pieter de Hoochstraat and Jan Luijkenstraat.
• Request stimulus-free rooms: Since the museum tends to get very crowded, you can request a stimulus-free room near the front desk when you get overwhelmed. 

You can get a quick bite at the Rijks Cafe or grab lunch at the Rijks Restaurant. While the Cafe is open from Monday to Sunday, the Restaurant is only open from Wednesday to Sunday.

• Anne Frank House: The Anne Frank House is the biographical museum dedicated to wartime diarist Anne Frank and is located 3 km from the Rijksmuseum. The House preserves Frank’s hiding place and is dedicated to preserving her life story. 
• Stedelijk Museum: 5 minutes away from the Rijksmuseum is the Stedelijk Museum, home to modern and contemporary art and design in Amsterdam. The museum features works by Picasso, Matisse, Mondrian, Van Gogh, and more.
• Van Gogh Museum: Just 300 meters from the Rijksmuseum is the Van Gogh Museum, home to the largest collection of works of Vincent van Gogh. The museum features 200 paintings, 400 drawings, and 700 letters by the artist, as well as works of his contemporaries.
